To be honest you don’t need any of the following if you are an Affiliate Marketer, however an Internet Marketer should have at least six basic tools: an Autoresponder, a Website Domain, a Freelance Platform, a Payment Processor, Webhosting Service and Social Media Platforms. This article outlines what each does, why it is important, how it works and how to get started. Let’s begin. 1. Autoresponder What is it? In a nutshell an autoresponder is a service which allows you to automatically send out emails to several if not hundreds of people, or to several groups of people either at the same time or in a sequence. Why is it important? Autoresponders are like having your own personal assistant. It gives you a way to automatically:
How does it work? You will be able to automatically send out emails in a sequence, for example you have an 8 part training course and you want to send out one module at a time. You can set it up so that modules go at the appropriate time and date. You can set up ways to capture potential customer names and email addresses for instance by offering a free eBook, Mindmap or resource file. However,
How to get started? To get started you will first have to sign up to an autoresponder service. I use www.Getresponse.com and www.Mailchimp.com (free but limited for the up to 1000 on your list). Another Autoresponder my colleagues use is www.Aweber.com 2. Domain Register What is it? If you are going to establish a website or any other web service, you will need to have Domain name. A domain register services is a company that handles the reservation of a domain name as well as an assignment of an IP address for that name. Why is it important? A domain name registration gives your business an online presence, legitimacy and brand recognition. If you are interested in reaching out to clients throughout the world or even within your community then a website is of critical importance. And you can only achieve a website by registering your domain. How do they work? Domain names are alphanumeric aliases to access websites – for example the Fontanie Magazine domain name is Fontaniemanagazine.com and it’s IP address is 71.17.38.236. It is easy to register a Domain name. However you don’t own the Domain name. You are just leasing it to use. As long as you continue to pay the registration fee you can keep using it. How to get started: The Domain Name Registration Firm I use is www.Godaddy.ca 3. Freelance Platform What is it? Freelancers work for themselves and contract their services out. They could be a writer, photographer, or an expert in any field. A variety of companies, organizations and government agencies hire freelancers. Why is it important? Freelancing is not only important for companies who do not have a particular expertise in-house but also for freelancers themselves. Operating a freelance business allows you to be your own boss, manage your own time, choose which projects you would like to work on and can promote work/life balance. Most freelancers work from home either full-time or part-time. How does it work? The jobs vary from short term to long term or part-time and full-time projects. It is projected that there will be in the neighborhood of 86 million freelancers by 2028. As a self-employed individual the freelancer is responsible for all administration such as billing clients, setting work hours, time tracking, paying their own taxes. How to get started: Personally I do not use use Freelance Platforms but Freelancers often use www.Fiverr.com , www.Upwork.com www.Elance.com 4. Payment Processor What is it? Simply put a payment processor relays information from your customer’s credit or debt card to your bank or vise versa. Why is it important? If you don’t have a method to receive and make payments you can’t process any monetary transactions, which is the life-blood of any business. The process of receiving money from customers and using that money to pay for products or services is crucial for businesses. How does it work? One of the roles of the payment processor is to make sure there is enough money in the customer’s account to cover the cost of the purchase. If there is, the transaction goes through. Every time you use your credit card and pay a bill the payment processor goes to work. How to get started. In the internet marketing world payment processors often include such firms as www.PayPal.com, www.Square.com, and www.Stripe.com Btw I use all three. 5. Web hosting Service What is it? In a nutshell a web hosting service is an on-line service that enables you to publish your website or web application on the internet. Why is it important? A web hosting service is a crucial element in the design and building of your website. It must be dependable and reputable if you want your end users to have a pleasant experience. You can link an email account to your site’s domain but it is not necessarily required. If you want to link your website to an email service it is better if you consider cloud based services. This is advisable because if your website goes down for some reason you still have ways to connect with your customers. Separate email services allow you to let your customers know for instance, that your hosting service is down and then provide them with updates. How does it work? Web hosting meets the different needs of websites and customers. They could include Shared hosting, Dedicated hosting, VPS Hosting. Cloud hosting, and Reseller hosting. The different types of webhosting relate to the kind of technology used for the server, the level of management provided and the services offered. Many Web Hosting Services will also register your Domain for your Website. How to get started. I host Fontanie Magazine on www.Weebly.com for an annual fee. I have also used Google web hosting, which by the way is a free service at www.Sites.Google.com. Other paid hosting services I recommend are www.HostGator.com and www.Bluehost.com. Social Media Platforms What are they? Social Media platforms are platforms that are used for communication, including but not limited to social networking and blogging whereby users develop online communities to share information, ideas, photos, personal messages and other content. They could include, but not limited to, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Tic Toc, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Instagram. Why are they important? Social media platforms from a business perspective allow you to advertise your brand, create a personal brand, drive business value, measure social change, find potential employees and freelancers. It is used to market products to a worldwide audience. How do they work? One of the most interesting things about social media is that it is constantly changing, updating and revising according to how users view and consume content. You should consider how to link your website and other tools with social media to expand your reach. Given today’s proliferation of social media tools it is best not to rely on one tool but to expand your base with several. Just remember though that social media is not a megaphone to shout out your wares so use it do more than just promote your own products and service. How to get started. Use social media platforms as a way to develop meaningful connections with your customers, like asking them questions, engaging them in product development, finding out what matters to them, sharing news and posts that motivate and expand their minds, and above all strengthening your brand and building trust through human connection. In Conclusion The six basic tools outlined in this article are essential for the internet marketer. The best way to develop the tools in your business is not to develop them all at once but to develop a plan to integrate them into your business over time. Complete an internet marketing plan with specific “tool” goals and action plans. This article explores four themes and a total of 18 tips: A) Tips For Some of The Best Tools For Solopreneurs, B) Tips For Using Social Media, C) Tips To Grow Your Solopreneur Business Quickly, D) Tips to Turn Your Side Hustle Into A Solopreneur Business. A. Tips For Some of The Best Tools For Solopreneurs When you begin your new adventure as a solopreneur, you may notice there are a ton of different tools out there that promise to be the very best. It is important to sift through all the noise and find which ones will actually help you become successful, no matter what industry you are in. some of the best tools for a solopreneur to use include: PDF Expert If you need to send and receive a lot of documents for your new business adventure, then PDF Expert is a good tool. This will allow you to receive and send out PDFs while making it easy to quickly edit inside of that document. This saves a lot of hassle and will ensure that the other party receiving the PDF can still get it without formatting issues. Password Manager Keeping track of all the passwords that you need to manage through the day can be a challenge. You should not use the same one for each account that you get into. But if they are all different, how are you supposed to remember them? Use password manager, you can keep all of the passwords in one place. It will safeguard all of your information and can even generate secure passwords. You can even use it over more than one device so you won’t have to worry about it later on. Both Google Chrome and Microsoft Outlook have automatic password protection tools. There are also Apps you can use such as Password Padlock. A Task Manager This is one of the best tools that you can use to stay organized while getting work done. There is a ton of work that needs to be accomplished when you are a solopreneur. And staying organized and on top of it may seem almost impossible. Instead of trying to keep it all memorized in your head, you can use this task manager to help out. A particular option that many use is Microsoft Outlook which is a great organizational tool that can make you more productive. You can attach documents to a task, create recurring tasks, and so much more while keeping it all in one place. You can also link One Note, Teams, Zoom, Skype and emails. If you are worried about how to stay organized as a solopreneur, then this is a cool tool to choose. The best resource for Microsoft Outlook is Priority Management’s Working Sm@rt Suite. You can find a Priority Management Office near you here. Autoresponder An autoresponder is a service which allows you to automatically send out emails to several if not hundreds of people, or to several groups of people at the same time or in a sequence. Autoresponders are like having your own personal assistant. It gives you a way to automatically keep in touch with your customers at one time, keep your email list current, gives people a way to unsubscribe to your list; adds people to your email list; ensures you follow CAN-SPAM Act guidelines with double opt-ins. Essentially an autoresponder will help you be more productive, run your business more smoothly and give you extra time to work on more important activities such as developing a product or program. You will be able to automatically send out emails in a sequence, for example an 8 part training course you want to send out one module at a time. You can set it up so that modules go at the appropriate time and date. You can set up ways to capture potential customer names and email addresses for instance by offering a free eBook, Mindmap or Resource file. However, you must have permission from subscribers before you sign them in, or they give their emails through a promotion that is linked to your subscription list; once you prepare an email the sending process is automatic. And when you get the hang of using an autoresponder you will find it is an easy way to communicate to people on your list To get started you will first have to sign up to an autoresponder service. I use www.Getresponse.com and www.Mailchimp.com (free but limited for the up to 1000 on your list). Another Autoresponder my colleagues use is www.Aweber.com As a solopreneur, it is important to have the right tools available and ready to go from the beginning. With the tools above, you will be well on your way to running your business and seeing the success that you desire as a solopreneur! eBook Creator An excellent tool for creating eBooks is Scribble. I have used Scribble to develop eBooks for sale and promotion. Not only does Scribble create eBooks, you also have the opportunity to integrate a book store, audio books, flip books, blogs and much more. Scribble is one of my go to programs. You can find it here. Product Creation The best program that I used to help me understand and create products is Trevor Carr's Breakthrough program. It is packed with training, a helpful support group and solid helpful hints. If you have never prepared or packaged products before Breakthrough is a must. You can find it here. B. Tips For Using Social Media Social media will become one of your biggest assets when growing a business. But you need to know how to use it properly. Many solopreneurs have big ideas of growing on social media, but they find that things do not go as planned and then they are stuck with a lot of work and no response. The three best tips that you can use to help grow your solopreneur business through social media includes: Do Not Post Too Often Finding the balance in terms of how often to post is important. You do not want to ignore your page for days at a time and then post a bunch and then abandon it. But you also do not want to post fifty times in a day because this will annoy potential customers and they will stop even looking. With some good analytics, you will find the perfect mixture of when to post and how often during the day. It is fine to experiment a bit to find the right amount for your business. Pick Relevant Material When you make a post on social media, it is important to pick material that is relevant or that your followers will find useful. The right content will make all the difference, though it does depend on the type of industry you are in and the products you sell for what will be considered relevant content. Think about what you would enjoy seeing on a social media page for a company and work from there. Interact with the Customers It is important to spend some time interacting with others on your social media page. You do not want to just put something up and then ignore the page until the next day. Your customers may ask you questions or comment under a post and a little interaction can help make it feel more personal. To make this work, you do not need to be online all day waiting for a comment to respond back to. Pick an hour or so a day that you can do this and give your best answer. It does not need to be perfect. But your customers will appreciate that you are giving some effort. Social media can be a great tool for a solopreneur to help them reach their potential customers and start to grow. And when you use the three tips above, you will find that it is easier than ever to make social media work for you. C. Tips To Grow Your Solopreneur Business Quickly As a solopreneur, you are likely looking for a lot of different ways to grow your business quickly. You want to get your name out there and turn this from a side business into a full time one. Or maybe you quit your regular job to do this and now you want to get the ball rolling. The good news is that, even as a solopreneur, it is possible to quickly grow your business by using the following tips: Build Your Network Anyone who is looking to grow their business and see results will know the importance of building up a network. You need a good network, including potential clients, industry leaders, and more to help you. Do not avoid adding someone to your network just because they are not a potential customer or because their industry does not seem to relate to yours. They can still provide you with a wealth of knowledge about getting started. And many times they will send over potential clients if they think you will be a good fit. It is beneficial to you and others in your network to form these connections. Share Your Knowledge As a solopreneur, you already have a wealth of knowledge available. The thing that will really position you for growth though is what you do with all of that knowledge. You can share a lot of your knowledge with your clients or find another unique way that you will stand out from the crowd in order to position yourself as the expert in the field and get ahead. Learn Something New Sometimes learning a new trick or a new program will make all the difference. As a solopreneur, you do not want to stretch yourself too thin by offering too many things to your clients. But by learning a new program or another important aspect of your industry, you may position yourself better to really help your clients out in a way that the competition can’t. Think about what will be the most beneficial in your industry and focus on learning that. A solopreneur is in a unique position to offer niche services and really reach their clients in a different way than a business or an entrepreneur can. When they take the time to grow their networks, share what they know, and even learn something new, they can quickly grow this small business into something that makes a good income for them. Join A Business Group Most communities have associations and organizations that cater just to businesses. These could be like the Chamber of Commerce, a faith based group, or a private group. Find a business group that fits with your business direction, where members are non-competitors, and is local. A local business group gives you the advantage of developing social relationships with like minded businesspeople and resources for immediate help. Also don't forget to join like-minded solopreneurs on social media. For instance join a Facebook business group, or find a mentor that will help you grow in your niche. D. Tips to Turn Your Side Hustle Into Your Business If you have worked on a side hustle that is doing well, you may decide that it is time to start your own solopreneur business. this is a fun step to take, but to make the transition, you need to be prepared and organized. Some of the tips that you can use to turn a side hustle into your own solopreneur business includes: Find a Business Name Set up the business entity the way that works best for you. Many solopreneurs work as a lone proprietor, though an LLC can help to protect you in case of a lawsuit. You need to figure this out to help when tax time comes. Open up a business bank account so you can keep your business finances separate from your personal ones. Domain Register If you are going to establish a website or any other web service, you will need to have Domain name. A domain register services is a company that handles the reservation of a domain name as well as an assignment of an IP address for that name. The Domain Name Registration Firm I use is www.Godaddy.ca Freelance Platform Freelancers work for themselves and who contract their services out. They could be a writer, photographer, or an expert in any field. A variety of companies, organizations and government agencies hire freelancers. Since don’t use Freelance Platforms but Freelancers often use www.Fiverr.com , www.Upwork.com www.Elance.com Payment Processor Simply put a payment processor relays information from your customer’s credit or debt card to your bank or vise versa. One of the roles of the payment processor is to make sure there is enough money in the customer’s account to cover the cost of the purchase. If there is, the transaction goes through. Every time you use your credit card and pay a bill the payment processor goes to work. In the internet marketing world payment processors often include such firms as www.PayPal.com www.Square.com www.Stripe.com and www.ClickBank.com . Btw I use all four. Web hosting Service In a nutshell a web hosting service is an on-line service that enables you to publish your website or web application on the internet. Web hosting now meets the different needs of websites and customers. They could include ‘Shared web hosting’ Dedicated hosting, VPS Hosting, Cloud Hosting, Reseller Hosting. The different types of webhosting relate to the kind of technology used for the server, the level of management provided and the services offered. Many Web Hosting Services will also register your Domain for your Website. I host Fontanie Magazine on www.Weebly.com for an annual fee. I have also used a free Google web hosting service at www.Sites.Google.com. Other paid hosting services I recommend are www.HostGator.com and www.Bluehost.com. Research the Market You may need to research the market a bit more to find your niche. Doing something as a side hustle is a little different than making enough to earn a full income. Since you have had a chance to dive into the market already, this can put you in a unique position to know what niche would be the most profitable and you can jump right in there. Do some research and decide where your market is. Create Your Network In the beginning, you may need to rely on word of mouth quite a bit to get things going. Having a strong network in the community can help with this. Rely on your friends, those you meet at church, and others you encounter at the park, at networking events and more, to help turn the business into a success. Your network will be important as time goes on so consider who would be an asset and think of ways you can help them out too. Think About Marketing As a solopreneur, you will not have a large budget to use as a marketing tool to help. This does not mean you are completely out of hope when it comes to showing off what you have. You may need to be more creative though. A good social media presence is important so think that through ahead of time. Consider word of mouth and other options as well. You may have started out as a side hustle to make a little bit of money. But these side hustles can quickly turn into a successful solopreneur business when done well. Follow the easy steps above and you will soon have your own solopreneur business up and running. In Conclusion I have tried to provide you with a number of tools you can use to make your life easier as a solopreneur. This top eighteen list is a beginning for you. Richard Fontanie Ready to leave the 9 to 5 job and start working for yourself? Have the drive and motivation to do some really big things in life, and ready to see how it can go for you? Then becoming a solopreneur may be right up your alley. This article explores the determinants of a solopreneur, the difference between a solopreneur and an entrepreneur, why you may want to become a solopreneur, the benefits of becoming a solopreneur, the secrets of successful solopreneurs, and some ideas for you to test out. A. What is a Solopreneur A solopreneur is simply anyone who sets up and runs a business on their own. Freelancers are often seen as solopreneurs as are those who start any other type of business without the help of someone else. You may have a few people who work for you, but you take on all the risks of running the business yourself, without a partner or outside help in that way. How is a Solopreneur Different from an Entrepreneur? These are very similar types of individuals. All solopreneurs are considered entrepreneurs, though it does not go the other way around. A solopreneur is going to do it all, while an entrepreneur is more likely to manage others and delegate. An entrepreneur may start a business, but they have a whole team that helps to get the work done with them, including marketing, accounting, and more. Solopreneurs are often on their own. They will handle all the little parts of their business. They may perhaps have an accountant to help out during tax time, but this person would not be an employee of the business. The Life of a Solopreneur Most solopreneurs are not looking to build up a whole empire. They want to work for themselves and they would like to make a good paycheck, but they want their business to still be manageable enough that they can make the majority of the decisions on their own. This does limit how much the solopreneur is able to take on. For example, the solopreneur only has so many hours in the day. This forces them to pick the right tools so they can be as efficient as possible. The solopreneur does not need to worry about employees and payroll and benefits either though, which can take out some of the stress of their day to day lives. When you are looking for a way to start your own business, but you want it to be manageable and personal, rather than a big empire that needs a ton of work and people to keep it going, then becoming a solopreneur may be the right choice for you. B. The Difference Between A Solopreneur and an Entrepreneur. Solopreneur is not a term that is brand new, but it is one that is seen more often in recent years than before. Many solopreneurs are passionate about their work and what they can provide to the world and their customers but figuring out the difference between a solopreneur and an entrepreneur can be challenging. Some common differences between these two includes: Solopreneurs are Founders and Employees Someone who is considered a solopreneur is able to manage all aspects of their business, without delegating tasks out to others. They create the business and are the main person responsible for delivering and producing the products. They may occasionally hire a freelancer to get some work done, but most is done on their own. On the other hand, an entrepreneur will hire a team and manage that team to get work done. Solopreneurs Have One Business Focus Most solopreneurs are excellent at niche offerings to their customers. This helps them to find their own space in the industry that they choose, while also ensuring that they do not take on too much at once. An entrepreneur will often focus on many things and diversify themselves to make their company bigger. If you are looking to start a social media company, a solopreneur may have a few packaged services to offer, while an entrepreneur would offer a lot of individualized options for the customer. Solopreneurs Do Not Build Businesses to Scale Entrepreneurs often dream of making their companies large. So they design them in a way that it is easy to keep it growing and getting bigger without more work later. For solopreneurs, their goal is to make the business profitable and keep it there just for themselves, without scaling the business. Financial management is Different As an entrepreneur grows their business, there will have more financial responsibilities. They have to handle payroll, taxes, benefits, and profits along with other financial goals. For those who are solopreneurs, there are fewer things to consider financially. They can go with something as easy to manage as a sole proprietorship, which allows them to handle all of the profits and everything else that comes with the financial decisions of the business. There are a lot of benefits to being both an entrepreneur and a solopreneur. Understanding how each of these works and deciding what kind of business you want to run can make the decision easier. C. Why You May Want To Become a Solopreneur The idea of becoming a solopreneur has mushroomed of late. There are many people who are enticed by the freedom and the flexibility that comes with starting a business that they run and manage each day. They can get all of the benefits of being their own boss without having to hire others and worry about payroll and other headaches. Some of the top reasons why you should become a solopreneur today include: The Ability To Control Your Schedule One of the best things about being a solopreneur is that you get to control your own schedule. There is no boss to report to each day so the hours you work do not matter. You need to stick with the deadlines that you agree upon with your clients, but you will know about those upfront and can negotiate them. If you need an afternoon off for an appointment or want to take a vacation, or even if you know you work better late at night, you can make those decisions and tailor your schedule to fit that. You Choose Your Income Many employees find that they are limited on how much they can earn. The human resources at the company may put a cap on it or they are not able to get a raise because of budget concerns and other issues. When you become a solopreneur, you get to choose how much you are worth. If you want a raise, you can take on more clients or change your rates. And you do not need to ask anyone for permission to do that. Choose Who You Work With How many times at work have you been stuck with a client or boss who does not share your vision or who seems to belittle you all the time. This can be a challenge but you keep taking it because you want that paycheck. When you become a solopreneur, you no longer have to feel stuck. You can choose which clients to work with. And you no longer have annoying or bad employees or a boss to report to at the end of the day. There are many reasons why becoming a solopreneur is such a great option for so many people. You need to be motivated and organized to get it done, but for those who are ready to take control over their own lives, becoming a solopreneur is one of the best options out there. D. Benefits of Becoming a Solopreneur A solopreneur is an individual who decides to start and run their own business. they can often do this from home without having to hire a lot of employees or worry about the added expenses. There are a lot of benefits to becoming a solopreneur, even compared to working as an entrepreneur. Some of these benefits include: You Are In Control A solopreneur gets to be in control over the business. They can set their prices, they can set their hours, and they can choose the type of work that they want to do. This is control that most employees do not get to enjoy when they are at a regular job. This freedom is what entices a lot of people to look at becoming a solopreneur to gain more freedom over their money and their lives. You Get to Make the Decisions One of the best things about being a solopreneur is that you are the only one in charge of that business. This means you get to make all of the big decisions. If you are bad at making decisions, then this kind of business arrangement may not be the best one for you. But for those who do not want to answer to someone else, being a solopreneur may be a great option. You Get to Keep the Profits Solopreneurs often do not have the same costs as other businesses. They can do the work from their home so they will not have to pay for office rent. And without employees by their side to do the work, there are no salaries and benefits to pay and no payroll taxes either. This means more of the profits go to your pockets. You Can Outsource While most of the work in a solopreneur business is done by the individual, if there are a few things that come up that you aren’t knowledgeable about or that you do not have time for because life gets in the way, it is possible to outsource. Freelancers are great for helping with some projects or hire an accountant to help during tax season. These are just some of the benefits that you can enjoy when it comes to being a solopreneur. With the right mindset and a great idea and time management on your side, you can become your own boss and enjoy all the benefits of a solopreneur. E. Secrets Of Successful Solopreneurs The idea of becoming a solopreneur has grown in leaps and bounds. Many people enjoy the idea of working for themselves while running a business that is manageable that they can set the hours and do the work on their own. If you are looking to become a solopreneur, take a look at these top secrets to see success! Aim Small There are a lot of business owners who want to aim big and make their business as large as possible. This may seem like a great idea, but then you are an entrepreneur instead. If you like the idea of being a solopreneur and just want to make enough to support yourself without the hassle of a big business, then your goal is to aim small and let the rest take care of itself. This can take a lot of pressure off and makes running your business easier. Do Less Selling Many solopreneurs feel like they need to do more selling to get anyone to take a look at them. They want to be heard above the crowd and get all of the sales possible. While it is noble to be so motivated to a goal, that is not how this is going to work. Overselling is going to annoy the customer and they may put you on mute in places like social media. Be more personable, meet the needs of potential customers, and find new ways to show your product, without the selling, and see how much that will make a difference. Find Your Passion If you are not passionate about your business, then you are going to get really tired of it quickly. Solopreneurs often are in charge of every aspect of the business. you will spend a lot of time around the product or service that you plan to offer as the business idea and it will be hard to stick with it some days when you are tired or frustrated. The good news is, if it is your passion, you will have a lot more good days than bad, and you can continue to turn this into a good profit. While you are at it, make sure to have a good accounting software or accountant by your side to help you continue making profits. Plan For Your Passion To Unfold It’s fine to have a passion, but you need to move to action to make your passion come alive. The best way to do this is to spend time planning out where you want to go and how you want to get there. The first is all about making sure you have a marketable vision and the second is to develop ways to achieve that vision. Without a plan your vision will remain a dream and your work will not bear the fruit you want. In fact, in most situations it will frustrate you because you find you are not achieving what you have set out to accomplish. F. Low Cost Solopreneur Ideas The first step to becoming a solopreneur is to figure out the idea of your business. There are many great business ideas to choose from, but you need to find the one that goes the best with your passion. Add in an idea that does not cost a lot to startup, and you are ready to go. Some of the best ideas you can use as a solopreneur include: Writing There are so many great options for writing and all you need to get started is a good computer and some writing software like Word. You can be a blog writer, eBook writer, or freelance copywriter to help out business. even some advertising jobs need writers to help get the work done. You can choose your niche and the type of writing you would like to do and then get to work. Social Media Manager Many companies are looking for people who can handle their social media accounts for them. From adding more customers to the site to handling posts, interactions and more, there is always a need for those who know how to work with social media accounts, especially for big companies. You can choose a niche to work with or offer different packages and it will not cost much to start. Web Designer For those who are a little more creative and into designing, a web designer could be a good choice. There are many individuals and businesses who are looking for someone to create a professional looking website for them. With a good computer, a little knowledge, and a few templates already designed (you may want to design your own website ahead of time too), you can get going with this new career choice. Do What You Are Good At If you have some experience with taxes for instance, then becoming a tax professional may be a good idea. You will need a good computer to store the information on and probably a few tax software options to help you diversify for different clients. This can still all be done for relatively cheap based on which options you choose. No matter what experience you have under your belt you can use that experience to help others. The real trick is to find a problem that needs to be solved, check your own ability to solve it and then develop the ways and means to set yourself up as the expert in solving that particular problem. There are so many great ideas out there for becoming a solopreneur and it is possible to do this without spending a lot of money out of pocket. With the right idea and a little hard work, you are certain to get this new business off the ground and running in no time. In Conclusion If you are ready to become a solopreneur then start the process to make it happen. If you need advice, support or need to sharpen your skill areas before jumping it, there are people who will help you. My experience tells me that most people make it as solopreneurs when they have support along the way. This means that you may need to invest some money so that you can make money in the long run. This is all about making sure you have the right mind set to set yourself up as a successful solopreneur. If you are want some help in this area consider The Bizwoli System. Richard Fontanie I mentioned in one of my videos that “There is a lot of uncertainty in life, whether in our personal affairs or in our changing and unsteady political climate, and I would add now, especially these days with such world turmoil. I also said in that broadcast that The strategies we often rely on to deal with such uncertainty tend to be self-defeating. When we face an uncertain future we often resort to feelings of anxiety and worry, as well as complaining or becoming negative in our outlook. Today's article is taking the same theme of hope and looking at it as a way to help us move forward and embrace it during these difficult times. Think of it as lighting a candle when things look dark. For sure we all have dreams, goals, and aspirations we want to achieve. Some of us achieve every goal we have while others don’t. One thing that causes trouble for most people to attain their goals is that they give up when things become unbearable, or when things look bleak and they can’t seem to find a way out of their dilemma or situation. And just when we think we have it all figured out and we are a few steps away from reaching our goal, life throws us curve balls. For instance, we lose a job , or the promotion we worked extra hours for goes to someone else, or our investment doesn’t go as well as we had planned, or our business goes south. The road to success is paved with difficulties, setbacks, uncertainties, and a whole host of problems that make it hard for us to keep chasing our dreams. However, hope can help us keep moving forward despite what happens. Hope has the power of turning our life around and helping us fulfill our purpose amid all the problems, discouragements, and difficulties we face. People who hold on to hope after drastic failures have a better chance of overcoming them compared to those who quit. This is because hope keeps us looking forward. It shifts our attention from bad situations to the countless possibilities within our reach. Hope reminds us that we still have a chance to turn things around and inspires us to keep trying. When things don’t turn out the way we expect, hope reignites our belief and says to us, “I can still make this work” and “There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.” Holding on to hope as well as realizing its significance in bringing our vision to life and living peacefully is a key to bouncing back from failures, getting past mistakes, and moving forward when the road gets tough. Today we need to understand the importance of hope and its impetus in helping us move our lives forward. It's time to embrace it. In so doing, however, we need to realize that not everything will go our way. That we will face hardships, fall down several times, be disappointed when we least expect it, and from time to time not achieve what we set out to do. Hope is the only thing that will help us through all that. It ensures us never give in or give up. It gives us a sense of peace in our struggles and empowers us to get back up and keep on moving forward. In these troubled times here are 5 ways to nourish your sense of hopefulness. 1. Focus on what you can change. Remember the Serenity Prayer, “God grant me the Serenity to accept the Things I cannot change, Courage to change the Things I can, and The Wisdom to know the difference.” The most effective way of cultivating hope is to focus on what you can change. When you focus on your capabilities as well as what you can change, pursuing your goal, and reigniting your zeal becomes easy. You are back in the driver’s seat. 2. Visualize where you want to be and what you want to achieve. Helen Keller once said, “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight and no vision.” Holding on to your vision is difficult when you are going through a series of misfortunes. The only way of ensuring you never allow difficult times to get in the way of achieving your goal is by visualizing what you want to achieve, who you want to be, and where you want to go. Seeing yourself achieving your goals and becoming who you intend to be or what you want your business to look like in 10 years, will rekindle your hope and keep you holding on to it throughout the good and difficult times. 3. Be around optimistic people. Surrounding yourself with optimistic people and people who always bring out the best in every situation is one of the best ways of cultivating hope. When you are around hopeful people, you adopt their behavior and always see the glass half full. So, to ensure that you keep holding on to hope when things don’t go your way, hold on to the people who give you hope and keep you hopeful. You can find these people in business associations, faith groups, and service organizations. 4. Practice gratitude. “Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” Melody Beattie Gratitude keeps you appreciating what you have, what you have accomplished, how much you have grown, as well as who you have become. Practicing gratitude and being thankful at all times will rekindle your hope during trying times. It will keep you thinking “Things aren’t as bad as they seem” and “I am in a better place today, than I was yesterday.” Develop that outflowing of gratitude by nurturing your spiritual core. 5. Eliminate negative thought patterns. Sheltering negative thoughts makes it hard to overcome difficulties or accept things as they are. When you focus on “It’s my fault the deal didn’t go through” and “I never get things right”, you give room for self-doubt. Negative thoughts have the power to stop you from working on your goals because they force you to believe you are not good enough and cause you to lose faith in yourself. Therefore, eliminate the negative thoughts that cultivate hopelessness and nourish hopeful thoughts every time things don’t go your way. Place affirmation sayings and positive quotes on your walls – statements that will reinforce a positive outlook and inspiration. We have often heard that hope is not a strategy but consider this, without hope there is no strategy. Hope gives us the strength to carry on when we are weary and pushes us forward towards our purpose in business, work and life. Thanks for reading and as always folks take care, be safe and continue becoming the best version of yourself. Richard Fontanie Have you ever been inspired by someone who is successful in business? Maybe you want to be like that businessperson. In fact you are so inspired that you want to take action. You say, “This person has moved me,” or “has inspired me.” So what do you do? You make a concerted effort for a short period of time to be like that person. But alas the motivation and inspiration doesn’t last. Why? Because it is really something that comes from outside of you rather than inside of you. Your inspiration is ‘out there’ so to speak and not ‘grounded’ in you. Only when you inspire yourself because of what you do will motivation stick, and if you continue to act out the behavior you will gain traction or momentum to continue the behavior. A Business Example. You have just read an article about the importance of business planning (the importance of working “on” your business and not “in” your business) and the long term benefits you would receive if you developed a business plan. Your inspired! You begin to do it and then after some time of working “on” your business your enthusiasm starts to wane. You start saying to yourself, “Maybe I don’t have to develop that plan – I’m too busy doing stuff.” You begin to procrastinate. Soon you are back to being busy ‘doing’ and not working ‘on’ your business. You find you lack the self-discipline to stay with it. Sound familiar? Now if you approached it with a different perspective like, “It’s important for me to develop a business plan, not because someone said so, but because I’m convinced it will give my business direction. I am responsible for my own business and a business plan will help me strengthen my focus, set priorities, clarify my personal values and the values for the business and give me a set of actionable goals. In the end I will feel better, sleep more soundly, and improve my lifestyle.” This is not something someone else is telling you. You are affirming it to yourself. You have taken the first step to realizing your goal of working “on” your business and not just working “in” your business. Once you personally commit to working on your business plan and you actually prepare it, you are reinforcing your ‘non-procrastinating’ behaviour. You start it and bring it to fruition. It is this stick-to-it process that is difficult for most people. The start is the beginning and bringing it to completion is the end. It is what you do in the middle of the start and end where momentum takes place. And it is in the momentum where inspiration and motivation occurs. Your ideas begin to percolate and creativity begins to take hold. But here is the kicker, if you want your business plan to succeed and not just sit on your shelve or on your computer you must actualize it and make it happen. You must keep the momentum going. And this is often the hardest part. It is in the actualization of the business plan where you enter the realm of ‘real’ momentum. As you actualize your plan you are moving toward achieving something for yourself. You are inspired and motivated from within - it is you motivating and inspiring yourself not someone or something outside of you. You now want to keep going because you are doing something to reinforce your plan. Not only that as you actualize your plan you begin to see the results of your efforts. So It is not the effort of others that inspires it is your own efforts and results that inspire. What Happens When You Don't Keep Your Promise Now let’s look at it from a different perspective. Every time you break a promise to yourself it usually bothers you. It niggles at you and after a while you start doubting yourself and wondering if you can achieve your goals. And if you do this often you let yourself down and your confidence about achieving goals is lessened. However, when you keep your promise to yourself you strengthen your self-respect and build your confidence and every day that you take action you are gaining momentum and more confidence and self-respect. As you strengthen your momentum, you are strengthening your stamina, your self-discipline for what you are doing and from that point on it is matter of reinforcing your activity and improving it. After a period of time, let’s say three or four months you will find you have progressed and your results will then inspire you to achieve even more. Your motivation is now forcefully coming from within. And this is the motivation that counts. You no longer need someone to motivate you. You are using your own progress and achievements and you are inspiring yourself in the process. You have now set a new pattern of behavior, and once that pattern has set you have taken on a new habit – that of self-discipline because you have learned the ‘stick-to-it-ness’ of getting things done. The Busy Business Person Now let’s take this scenario and put it into the context of the busy businessperson – the solopreneur. These busy people can easily be juggling many roles in life, not only are they running a business they may also be a parent, a community representative, a member of a business association and a faith community and so on. Added to their roles they have the pressures of making sure they have enough cashflow to meet expenses and make a profit, they find themselves marketing, selling, keeping administrative records and maintaining their own healthy lifestyle and dealing with the anxieties of everyday living. That’s different than the person who has time on his hands, who has developed a business so that it runs on its own and experiences less pressures in life. This businessperson enjoys life and is satisfied within himself. Isn’t that the paradox of life? He who has is often given more. So the busy businessperson who is not in this situation is going to have to fight for what he believes is necessary and make the commitment to move forward. The word here is ‘commitment’ coupled with daily discipline and reinforcement to achieve the desired outcome. This is true with whatever we do in life – we need to commit and move forward. It is less about making comparisons with others and more about doing what is necessary on a daily basis for ourselves until we achieve the necessary momentum to make the difference. Then it is a matter of improving the behavior so that we are gradually becoming better versions of ourselves. With each improvement we move towards a more satisfied self in mind, body and spirit. In conclusion, be responsible and accountable for driving your own inspiration and motivation and build the self-discipline to make it happen. That’s all there is to it. Now is the time to start gaining momentum in all that you do. Thank you for reading, Richard. One of the constant refrains I hear from those starting out in business, whether that is an internet marketing business or a ‘bricks and mortar’ business is, “I lack confidence”. Let’s explore that because your personal growth and development matter. Confidence, according the Merriam-Webster dictionary is ‘the feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something” and is connected to trust, belief, conviction and reliance. Confidence is not a natural trait. We have to work at it and strengthen it over time. Our confidence, for example in dealing with others is developed through the practice of conversation, such as listening to the flow of a conversation before speaking and preparing questions before entering into a conversation. Fear is another factor when it comes to strengthening confidence. Fear holds people back from a situation and often leads to anxiety, and the anxiety leads to self-doubt and then moves to a lack of confidence. Understanding the causes of the fear and dealing with it provides the assurance that people have nothing to fear “but fear itself” a phrase popularized by Franklin D. Roosevelt. We can also gain a sense of confidence by achieving certain accomplishments, such as meeting goals we have set, and thereby building our belief in our capabilities and competence. Let’s take a look at three broad areas that will help improve confidence: what you can do daily, how you can strengthen your mental muscle and the importance of your spiritual muscle in building confidence. 1. Improve Confidence Daily We can strengthen our confidence by handling the ‘emotional outcome’ we face on a daily basis. How do we do that? By acknowledging our emotions including those we have difficulty with, learning how to speak up for ourselves, limiting self-criticism, and accepting the genuine complements we receive from others. We need to be aware as well, that confidence is not all encompassing. Sometimes it is like being on a roller coaster. We can have confidence in some aspects of our lives yet experience low confidence in others, for instance one can be confident in driving a vehicle but have little confidence in developing a website. When we deal with these ups and downs, we needn’t spend time honing those areas where we are confident but strengthening our weak ones through practice and application. 2. Improve Mental Toughness Another way to improve confidence is by strengthening our mental toughness. We can do this by:
3. Strengthen Spiritual Toughness There is one more way to improve confidence and that is going beyond business, work and life. It is having a sense of confidence in someone beyond ourselves within the elixir of faith and hope. In order to find this type of confidence we go deep within ourselves and discover that we are part of something or someone bigger than ourselves. It is a place where we suspend our ego and touch a bit of the Divine within us. It is through faith and hope that our rush to accomplish is put into perspective; that things outside of our control are actually in control if we listen deeply; that the world is a good place and that we have a place within it to make it better for others and for ourselves as we conduct our business, work and life. In conclusion you can strengthen your confidence by dealing with emotional fallout; discovering what is holding you back from going ahead and overcoming it; strengthening your mental and spiritual muscles by regularly taking stock of where you are at and actualizing the suggestions noted above one at a time on a daily basis. Thank you for reading and please stay safe, keep well, and continue becoming the best version of yourself, Richard Fontanie Choices can either make or break us. Decisions are not to be taken lightly, especially when it comes to our vision. Certain choices we make can determine the success or the failure of our dream. It is important, therefore, to make decisions that align with your vision. From the inception of an idea to its realization, you should be aware of the power of the choices you make. You cannot afford to unwind your progress over a poor choice. So take all precautions and consider the consequences of the decision that lies ahead before you make it. Many people do not realize the importance of making choices that bring them closer to the life they want so that they can live it fully. If you see yourself raising a healthy family, then you must be conscious of the lifestyle you and your family have. It means choosing your meal plans and fitness routines wisely. You might have to walk the few blocks to the store instead of taking the car. It might mean introducing a monitoring tool to see whether you and your family are on track to lead a healthy lifestyle. You might even need to incorporate fun family activities that keep your mind and your body active and healthy. All these choices will aid you in ensuring that your goal to be healthy family becomes attainable. Discard the choices that take you further away from your goals. There is no point in starting a business, taking up a job or getting into a relationship that does not feed into your ultimate vision. It wastes time and energy that you should be spending on building your dream. Ask yourself, “Will this set me up for future success, or deplete valuable energy that I can put to better use?” If your answer is that it is not leading you in the direction where you want to go then maybe you need to make a different choice. Once you know where you are heading, you can choose whatever aligns with where you want to be. The dos and don’ts of decision making. Effective decision-making occurs when you first outline your vision, values and goals. This can raise your awareness on how to align daily choices to produce results. If your vision is not clear, it may be difficult to make the right choices to ensure that you fulfil it. Bring clarity on what it is you want to achieve and make sure it is complete with the timelines in which you wish to achieve it. Do as much research as reasonable into actions you need to take and choices you need to make. Be conscious of the choices you need to make about the options before you and understand their impact on your dream. When you are faced with big decisions, you shouldn’t rush into them. Do not give in to the pressure of making a choice if you are not sure how it will impact your business, work or relationships or your overall vision. It is rushing to make choices that can propel us into moments of failure and uncertainty. So it is important to take your time when you need to make big decisions. Risking it may not always be worth it as it may cost more than you are willing to pay. This is not to say you should not take risks, but be careful about the risks you take. Do not decide from a place of fear. It can unravel the confidence you have built for your vision. So, do not allow any situation to intimidate you into choosing what you are not ready for. It is also important not to give in to the pressure that comes from other people when you need to make decisions. As the curator of your dream, you hold all the power in making choices. It is good to have people who can advise you but maintain the veto on the final decision. It is your dream after all. Any consequences that come are your responsibility, so you would rather make the choices you need to without giving in to pressure from external forces. This takes strength and courage. Make sure the choices you make do not compromise your values and your beliefs. No choice should make you sell out on who you are. When you are aware of who you are, who you want to become, and how you want people to perceive you, you are in a better place to make decisions that align with that. When many options seem reasonable, it is helpful and comforting to rely on your values and use them as a powerful guiding force to point you in the direction you want to go. When you come to the crossroad of life and you are not sure which way to turn, think about what you do when you approach a railroad crossing. A speeding train about to cross your path can be darn right intimating. It’s impact isn’t your best choice. So too, achieving your goals can seem intimidating if you do not make the right choices to pursue your vision. The Railroad Crossing Technique This technique can help you align your decisions for greater goal achievement. Stop! When you approach a railway crossing and you see a speeding train blasting it’s horn close by it makes you slow down and think. Life too can be loud and fast-paced. So when you need to make the choices that are best for where you want to go quieten the noise around you and slow down the pace. Look! Increase your powers of observation. When you see the train close by you become alert and become very cautious about proceeding. Be alert before you make major decisions that impact you and your vision. Listen! Some call it a gut feeling and some call it instinct. Some call it just being plain smart. Whatever it is, it is worth listening to. If you have a sense of foreboding, then do not go through with a decision. Don’t let the train wreck your vision before you are ready to proceed. Become clear about what your instincts are telling you what to do about a pending decision? Discern and Proceed! Discerning is about having a deeper understanding by pushing the pause button. When the train passes it is time to proceed. When your heart, your head and your gut agree that all is well, then you are free to make your decisions to go ahead. If the decisions you make determine the outcome of your vision, then you should be careful to make choices that align with where you want to be. Every small step you take toward your ultimate destination will help you get there. So does every single choice you make. Thank you for Reading, Take care, be safe and continue becoming the best version of yourself. Richard Fontanie (From Build Your Vision, found in the Storefront) Absolutely you can make money online, but you can’t necessarily do it for free. What a misconception? That is that you can make money online for free. Now that I have your attention, there are ways to be more cost effective with your online business and that is what this article is all about - discovering ways to reduce your costs especially if you are just starting out. But even if you are a seasoned online business owner you may find there is something here for you too. Strong online business owners want to be in control of their business. They don’t want to hand it over to others and put themselves in a position of falling victim to the whims of others. Keep the core of your business close to you so don’t hand the essential parts of your business to others. If you do you lose control of it. In order to have control over your online business, there are a few essentials you need, like your own domain, a hosting service, an autoresponder and a website to name a few. Here is the problem with free stuff, you don’t own it and it can be taken away just as easy as you got it. And there is usually some catch, for instance you really don’t get what you need and to get what you need there is an upsell. So you pay anyway – and even more than you originally intended. So yes, you will need to spend money to build a successful online business. However there is good news. Your initial investment is nowhere near as much as a brick and mortar business. In fact, with around $200-$500, you’ll be able to build your very own online business from scratch and notch it up to a comfortable income. If you are on a tight budget the following strategies will help you reduce costs that will take out some of the burden of starting an online business. 1. Start Small Starting small is the most important rule of the lot. When buying a domain name, use an affordable service like Godaddy. Choose a 1-year plan rather than opting for more just because you get a discount. When choosing hosting, go with a starter plan and pay monthly rather than paying yearly because you want a cheaper price. This is what starting small is all about. When your business is doing well, you can opt for the annual payments to enjoy cost savings – but not when you’re a beginner who’s just scraping by. 2. Follow your nose rather than the herd The online marketing space is filled with followers who will jump on every new thing that comes along. You need to be more astute and alert. When you’re first starting off, you may need a page builder for your sales pages. Think about using Google Documents, or your own Word document. These much more cost effective than purchasing ready-made documents. Email is still one of the best ways to market your products and if you use Facebook right you may find you are building your list while at the same time strengthening your relationships with your clients and customers. The best advice says, "Watch for not getting trapped into expensive options and reduce your recurring bills as much as possible." 3. Track your expenses If you’re paying by PayPal, most of your recurring bills will be automated and it’s easy to lose track of your pre-approved payments. Make a list of all the monthly expenses in your online business. You may be shocked to find that you’re paying for services you no longer use. For example, you may have a Canva subscription, but you’re hiring graphic designers from Fiverr. So you’re wasting money here. You can eliminate wasteful spending just by tracking your expenses. And, make sure you have access to your receipts in case the tax man cometh. 4. Leverage free trials A lot of software, tools, and the like come with free 7-day, 14-day or even 30-day trials. You can save money by using them – but before you sign up, make sure that you’re ready first or you’ll be wasting the trial. For instance, when you take a 30-day trial for an autoresponder, prepare your opt in pages are ready and obtain traffic before signing up for the 30-day trial. In this way, you’ll hit the ground running from day 1 and build your list instead of wasting precious days getting the other components in your funnel ready. 5. Quality matters You get what you pay for. Sometimes, it’s better to pay more for a product to get a better service. You’ll often find, for instance, cheap self-hosted autoresponders sold by dodgy marketers. Their selling point will be that you only pay a one-time fee. That’s true. But once you start using their software, you’ll find that the cheap software breaks down or has atrocious deliverability rates and so on. You’d be better off paying a monthly fee for a solid service like Get Response or AWeber and avoid wasting money on questionable products. Your key here is to find the balance between cost and value. 6. Shop around You may find that some info-products, educational programs and courses. are priced differently in different places. For example, you may find a PLR store selling you a resell rights product for $9. That same product may be sold in another website for $3. This happens all the time and is no different from a buying a bag of popcorn costing 3X more in a cinema than at your nearby grocery store. Shop around and see if you can get the product at a cheaper price. If you are buying products on Warrior Plus or JVZoo make sure you read reviews first before being taken by the glossy sales page. Remember these are prepared by seasoned marketers who know their stuff and have excellent internet marketing experience. Also many of these products have “down sells” so watch you don’t jump at the first page that is presented to you. Finally look at the bonuses that sellers offer, ensure you understand them because some sellers are just unloading worthless products that have glitches in them. 7. Look for coupons Another way to save money is to search on Google for ‘product name + coupon’. You may find coupons that help you get a few dollars off. Always be alert. Sometimes software is discounted during times like Black Friday, Christmas, and other festive holidays. These may be the best time to grab products and save yourself some money. Alternatively, you can contact the product vendor directly and ask for a discount coupon. Many vendors will respond to your requests if you’re polite. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. At the end of the day, you want to run a lean, effective online business that makes money round the clock without incurring huge costs. One of the easiest ways to increase your bottom-line will be to trim your expenses. Constantly look for ways to do this and your business will see higher profits and you’ll be able to earn more and save more. Thanks for reading, And as always stay safe, be well and continue becoming the best version of yourself. Richard Fontanie You can monetize your blog as well as gaining potential customers to your email list. Here are five easy ways to get it done..
!. Use a Sidebar Opt-In Form You have worked hard to write a blog post. So here is one easy method to attract people to your list and that is to use a Sidebar Opt-In Form. This will show on every post you make. Make sure your Test different locations, use different images and different opt-in forms until you find one that works. 2.Use Pop Up forms. Some consider these to be a nuisance, but they work well. Switch things up and try different ideas and see if you can improve your conversion rate with different copy or offers. Test, test, test until you find that people are signing up for more information, or whatever you are promoting. Personally I don’t like them as I consider them a real distraction, but they work. 3.Add a value up-grade to your blog. You just wrote a blog about a topic, let say say ‘Finding Your Purpose,” What you can do is add a Mindmap or a Resource File or a video file that people can download if they add in their email address. Simple, effective and a value add to your post. 4.Turn your blog post into a video. Having written a blog post you now have the basis for a video script. With a few tweaks and making it a bit more conversational you can easily turn it into a script. By turning your blog post into a video you have increased your outreach several fold. 5.Turn your blog or blogs into a PDF eBook. You can use Apps to do this. Two examples of Apps are Post Gopher for WordPress or Simplebooklet for Weebly users. These are plugins that convert your blog posts and pages into downloadable PDF books and pamphlets. Once you have the eBook, offer it free and connect it to a Landing page to capture names and email addresses. I have provided links to Post Gopher and Simplebooklet below. Remember if your blog isn’t converting for you, it may need some work. Prepare a goal to obtain a certain number of subscribers from everything you write and see what happens. Review those that are not converting and find ways to improve them.
