We are creatures of habit. Our habits can lead us to success or they can drag us down an unsuccessful path. People thrive when they strengthen positive habits. Practice the following six strategies until they become habitual and they will put you on a path to success.
1. Visualize where you would like to be. 2. Focus on your end and set your goals. 3. Prioritize your goals. 4. Complete the tasks that lead you to your goals. 5. Keep a positive attitude. 6. Learn from your successes and mistakes. Clarify where you would like to be and then make the effort to get there.

You have just received notice from your employer that your position is no longer required. You are now unemployed. Don’t despair. There’s more work to be had. Now is the time to:
1. Take this opportunity to think about where you would like to be – your purpose in life and your ideal work. It may be time for a career change anyway. 2. Share your pain with those that are close to you, but don’t continue to burden them with your anxieties and concerns. 3. Release your anger and frustration about your loss but don’t get into the blame game. 4. Search out your contacts and network, and let them know your are “job hunting.” 5. Turn your weaknesses into strengths so that you will be more valuable to your next employer. 6. Get in touch with your attitude and behaviors and how they affect others. Change what isn’t working for you. 7. Develop a support network 8. Maintain your dignity and self regard. Rebuild your confidence quickly. 9. Keep a daily journal and routine. 10. Look after your mind, body and spirit. Eat well, exercise often, and keep a positive attitude. 11. Find a career coach who can help your through your transition. You may have lost your job, but you are not unemployed. You are now self-employed. Plan and manage your next move. |
