HIIT BASICS - Getting Started With High Intensity Interval Training
From the Chapter 1: The key to succeeding with HIIT is to first develop the habit of exercise. Go to the gym 5 times a week. If you can’t even do this, you’ll not have the discipline to stay true to a HIIT regimen.
Walk for an hour daily. This will be enough to get your body to burn calories and cause fat loss. Remember to eat at a caloric deficit. You’ll need discipline to tailor your diet accordingly. As you can see, these initial steps are necessary to build your self-discipline.
During this process, you’ll start losing weight and the pressure and impact on your joints will diminish. Keep at it until you notice that your results are starting to taper off. That means your body is adapting and becoming more efficient.
By now, you’d have some strength, more stamina and less fat. You can slowly ease into HIIT by doing it once or twice a week. It’s all baby steps here. Increase the intensity till you’re mildly uncomfortable.
You’ll still be sweating, panting and your heart rate will be higher. It will be more than what you’re accustomed to. This is how you ‘season’ your body and get it ready for the actual high intensity training.
Always remember that you can’t out train a bad diet. So, make sure your diet is on point and you’re eating properly. When you’re expending more calories than you consume, you’ll shed the fat and your HIIT workouts will improve.
It’ll be less of a struggle to move fast. Slowly increase the number of sessions till you’re doing 3 HIIT sessions a week. On the other 3 days, you can do resistance training. Take a day to rest.
The goal is to make continued progress and keep getting faster and raising the intensity. In 2 to 3 months, you’d have improved so much that you won’t be able to believe it. (33 pages, 6719 words)

Our life is often a maze of paths taking us in different directions and the more paths we have the more difficult it is to choose the right one that will lead us to where we want to go. It appears that we have now become impulsive creatures latching onto the push and pull of the prevailing winds or we follow the crowd on whichever road they are taking. We have left the task of making choices to those outside ourselves.
We end up seeking guidance elsewhere because we have not taken the time to establish our own path. When we lack sight we give the responsibility to others to guide us. Even those who are physically blind have cloaked themselves with their own responsibility to get them to where they want to go.
Vision is the ability to see beyond today and to paint a clear picture of what you want tomorrow to look like. It is the ability to think about and plan for the future using a vivid imagination coupled with wisdom. It is a mental picture of the result you want to achieve, coming from the future to inform and energize the present.
Take some quiet time to describe what your life would look like in the next five years, detail the image of the future in your mind whether that is about your business, work, or relationships.
Your vision acts as your map, just like a GPS it shows you where you are and where you want to go and the path you should take to get there.

Successful financial planning doesn’t happen by accident. It’s a process that must be followed carefully. Half the battle is in avoiding the mistakes and pitfalls which trip most people up.
In this article, we’ll look at 5 common financial planning mistakes which will impede your progress. Being aware of what they are is crucial to ensure that you save up a sizeable nest egg and have enough money to last you into your golden years.
1. Not having a plan
There’s an old quote, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
That’s 100% true here. You must create a good plan and follow it if you wish to be financially healthy.
Assess your financial health. Look at your debts. Decide how much you want to save, invest, and do what you need to do to save money and remove debt. Aim to improve gradually.
Not taking ownership of a debt problem and remedying it swiftly will only cause it to snowball and become more difficult to handle. Too often, people fear looking at their debts.
It all just seems too overwhelming. So they mentally shelve it away into the dark recesses of their mind thinking that the problem will go away. Almost always, it NEVER does
In fact, it’ll become even more obvious. The bills will become more frequent. The creditors will start calling you. If you ever thought no one cared about you, you’ll now realize just how many people do when you fail to pay your bills on time.
You must address your financial troubles as soon as possible.
3. Lifestyle creep
‘Lifestyle creep’ is a term used to describe a situation where you start spending more just because you’re earning more. For example, you may have been on a tight budget before when you were earning a salary of $3,000 a month
So you find a new job that pays you $4,500 a month. That’s fantastic. You now have $1,500 extra disposable income. However, instead of paying off your debt and saving more, you decide to sell your old car and buy a newer flashier car. After all, you can afford it now.
What happens next is that a sizeable chunk of your extra $1.5k is going towards paying for the new car’s monthly instalments. You’re back on a tight budget… because you’ve taken on new commitments.
Just because you earn more doesn’t mean that you have to spend more. Like the quote at the top of this article said, what matters is not how much you earn. It’s how much you keep.
So, don’t let lifestyle creep throw a wrench in the works and adversely affect your financial planning.......

There may be a many things you’re feeling that are not exactly the way they seem. You see you may be actually jumping to conclusions in the way you identify your own emotions.
This may sound a bit puzzling because after all everybody feels emotions and their entitled to them, right? Take a look at that question again. You may be confusing two things.
- You’re confusing the fact that everybody is entitled to their own emotions. Which is arguable correct. But,
- You’re not entitled to absolve yourself of the responsibility of dealing with your emotions.
In the first instance you have feelings about something or you are experiencing a rush of various emotions, you certainly are entitled to that because you are like everybody else.
When people look at the same set of stimuli they process that information and often walk away with different emotional reactions. That is okay and considered natural. It is part of understanding the way things exist.
In the second instance you’re not entitled to absolve yourself of the responsibility of dealing with your emotions. This is where people often make a mistake. When you take a hard look at it you will find that 9 times out of 10 when confronted with a toxic emotion, you would rather continue to do things precisely in the same way you have always done things.
What is happening in these instances is that you have become accustomed to diverting certain signals a certain way. You take the easy route out. At first you chose one interpretation over another, but the more you repeat it the more it becomes habitual until you reach a point where you feel that this is just part of your personality.
You might even think that this is just the natural way to objectively interpret the things you are seeing and feeling. Not so......

Instead of putting on a mask and portraying who you think you should be rather than who you know you really are, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. Being self-aware and accepting who you are can take you so much further in life than wearing a mask. Here are ten ways to help you take off your mask and be your most genuine self.
Examine Your Belief System
A lot of people grow up being taught what their beliefs and values should be by their family members. It can be good to examine your current beliefs and determine whether they are in alignment with who you really are or if they’re beliefs that you were adopted early on in life.
If you behave in ways that feel out of alignment with your core values, it could be from periods in early life where you had to stop being your genuine self and put on a mask in order to please others.
They say that your eyes are the windows to your soul where your true self resides. From time to time take a hard look in a mirror and peer into your eyes. What do you see? For many people this exercise scares them because they don’t like what they see and they then have a choice to make. Either they continue to live with their mask or they choose to remove the mask and become their genuine self.
Try to become more self-aware so you can identify discrepancies between the way you act and what you believe. When you become more aware of the things you say and do, you can think back on why you behave this way and whether you really believe what you say or if it was something taught to you that you never unlearned. If you figure out what you do that is out of alignment with your values, you can start to work on them and improve yourself.
Sometimes we need to take a break and sit in a quiet spot to hear what is going on inside ourselves. Listen to your inner voice and realign your values with what you actually do.
Define Core Values
Living your best life in the most authentic way you can, starts with knowing your values. Sometimes we are so disconnected from ourselves we don’t have any idea of what our true values are. To do this, you can make a list of what you value most some examples are:
Take some time during a week-end and write out, not only words but more importantly what they mean to you. This way you will have context for the values. Review everything you have written and then prioritize them and pick out 5 to 10 that you most value. Once you have your list incorporate them into your life.
Face Your Fears
Fear is one of the biggest reasons people don’t live authentically. Fear of rejection, judgment, and embarrassment are all reasons people tend not to be their most genuine selves. When exploring your values and trying to live more in alignment with them, it can be scary and off-putting, but it’s important to face those fears and push past them.
Now there are many positive things to say about fear. Fear keeps us from making silly mistakes, spending money foolishly, and taking unnecessary risks. When danger faces us we rightly react instinctively with a “freeze, flight or fight” response. But when fear stops us from going forward when we should be going forward, or running away from something we shouldn’t, or being overly anxious about something that is trivial, then it’s time to take a hard look at how hear holds us hostage. If you are experiencing these later types of situations then consider these 8 questions:
1. Why am I afraid?
2. When did my ‘fear thing’ begin?
3. What does fear make me do?
4. How does it make me feel?
5. How do I keep nurturing it?
6. How do I react to it physically?
7. How does it affect my decisions?
8. How does it affect my confidence?
Now that you understand the nature of your fear, answer these four questions to begin moving forward.
Do I need someone to help me work through my?
What strategies can I use to reduce my physical and emotional reaction to fear?
What is the worst thing that can happen to me if I decide to be unafraid?
When will I take the first step to overcome my fear?
Change Your Habits

Does it make them feel comfortable? Or does it lead to distraction?
In the last chapter we have learned that cleaning up a desk or a home reduces distractions so that people could focus better, improve self-discipline, and reduce self-induced stress. The techniques in earlier chapters provide ways to clear the clutter surrounding people such as prioritizing daily, weekly and monthly tasks, establishing a sense of purpose and goals and creating a personal vision and a set of goals, are all valuable in and of themselves. Yet, “why” do people develop ‘habits of clutter’? This chapter explores four possible reasons as to why people clutter.
1. Emotional Patterns
Some people get emotional gratification from accumulating stuff around them. Perhaps they have been brought up in an environment where they didn’t have much or have lost much and consequently have a subconscious need to have things around them. Perhaps they subconsciously want to fill a void for things they didn’t have; or they have a fear of losing the things they do have. It really doesn’t matter what those things are as the clutter becomes the stand-in for the things they didn’t have or for those things they have lost.......
