Seven Ways to Strengthen Integrity in the Workplace

Integrity comes from the Latin word 'integer' which means whole and complete. To act with integrity means that we are acting from a sense of 'wholeness' and consistency of character. Therefore, to be a person of integrity our behaviors, words, actions and outcomes should positively reflect who we are.

1. Be aware of what integrity means to you.  
2. No matter the situation intend to do, act and communicate with integrity.  
3. Spend a few moments each day and ask yourself, "How can I improve what I do, how I act and how I relate to others with integrity."  
4. Know that what you do, how you act, and what you say impacts others in a way that mirrors your integrity.  
5. Recognize that authenticity is a result of being true to oneself in all life situations. 
6. Commit to living a life of integrity that may include mess-ups from time to time, and realize that you can humbly correct any missteps you have made along the way.
7. Learn how you can mentor, encourage and coach others in becoming 'whole' through your own example of authentic and integral behavior.
